Men’s Emotional Awareness
I have a particular interest in working with men around emotional awareness, vulnerability, communication, and identity. Many men are socialized from an early age to minimize emotional experience, avoid vulnerability, or equate emotional openness with weakness, which can create difficulties later in relationships, as well as self-understanding, and emotional regulation. Often, men arrive in therapy feeling uncertain about how to identify or communicate what they are feeling, even when they are highly intelligent, thoughtful, and successful in other areas of life. Therapy can provide a space to explore emotional experiences in a way that feels grounded, direct, and non-performative.
My goal is not to push people toward a particular version of masculinity or emotional expression, but to help individuals develop a more authentic and flexible relationship with themselves and others.
Client Fit
Therapy with me may be a good fit if you identify as a man who wants to better understand your emotions, relationships, communication patterns, or sense of self.
You may be used to handling things on your own, staying composed, or focusing on solutions while finding it harder to name what you feel or ask for what you need. For some men, emotional awareness can feel unfamiliar, uncomfortable, or even at odds with how they learned to move through the world.
Therapy offers a private, thoughtful space to explore these experiences without judgment and to develop a more honest relationship with yourself and others. Therapy can help you accurately and habitually find common ground between the logical and the emotional, to see how they work together to make better decisions and cultivate safe and meaningful relationships.
